Waze becomes even more Pacmanesque

Tonight I fired up Waze on my G1. I was delighted to see little cherries speckled across the map. Waze, the real-time traffic application for smartphones is becoming even more of a game.

I didn't have time to go chasing down the cherries. However, after driving past two SigAlerts on my thirty mile commute, I came across a hammer several times.

I learned that these items have been placed on the map as a fun way of helping to build even better maps. When you collect them, you earn bonus points.

Between November 25th and the 30th, Waze is giving out Amazon gift cards, ranging from $200 to $500, to the Wazers who rack up the most points from collecting road goodies.

Details can be found on their blog.
